Mercy Ships and Smile Train: Saving the Invisible Child
Why am I passionate about Mercy Ships and Smile Train? When I was a small child, I fell and busted my chin wide open on a piece of glass. This left a bright red and permanent scar on my face. For the next several years, every time I was put in a new social situation, I was nervous and fearful one of the other kids would make fun of my scar. Fortunately for me the redness faded and it became less noticeable the older I grew. I can't imagine the emotional turmoil a child must go through who is born with physical defects such as legs bent the wrong way, a curved spine or a cleft lip and palate. Lets face it, without meaning to, children can be cruel to each other. That is why I am proud to support the great doctors and caretakers at Mercy Ships and Smile Train. You can learn more about both these organizations at www.mercyships.org and www.smiletrain.org.
